Intense, but good. At least intense in places. Good everywhere. I'm wishing for Xander and Spike to talk a bit. But I'm glad Spike's back and is watching out for Xan, even if the rest of the scoobies are being a bit clueless.

I think they are more afraid of doing the wrong thing, Xander has always been the 'human' one, the one that really gets hurt. I think events have really driven that point home, and their main concern is to protect him. Nothing like this has happened to any of them before, and there isn't a magical spell or brilliant attack plan to defeat the big bad, in this case it's simply the emotional and mental scar's Xander carries around with him. They can't fight it, and I think to a group of people who have been warriors, this kind of helplessness is very debilitating.

Yay on the talky stuff.

I can see that reasoning. Scoobies deal with demons and magic and that's not what got Xander. The deal with research too though, so I'd expect someone to think of reading up on PTSD at least. But I'll give them some time.

Thanks for adding the feedback link at the end too, it's much nicer to not have to scroll back to the top to find it. :-)

Wow. Just. Wow.

I am always absolutely flabbergasted by your talent to take something so hard to grasp as psychological conditions and make them so real and understandable, visible to the reader.

you don't say "Xander is traumatised" and leave the reader to imagine it, but instead show us Xander's actions and reactions, and make *us* draw the conclusion "Xander is deeply traumatised but trying to cope, only he can't do it alone".

That is a wonderful talent, and one of the reasons I love your writing so much! *hugs*
(Your skill with words and imagery being some of the other reasons...)

Way intense! Loved it! Can't wait to see what happens when we get to the talky-talk stuff. And this is totally not story related but I love the LJ icons. It so helps with the format and figuring out who is talking when. Very cool.

If it's at all possible, would you consider adding a link to previous or the previous posts? So that way I can go back and reread? Please. *bats eyelashes*

Wow. Somehow I missed Chapter two so I read them both this morning and damn. I can't help but be glad that Spike got the chip out but he couldn't leave a note? Glad he came back though, and Wes and Cordy seem to deal with the new Xander so much better than the Scoobies.

Speaking of Scoobies, can Spike pimp slap them for me?

I'm enjoying this. Its sad how the Scoobies are shutting Xander out and not realising the damage they're doing. I'm just glad that Spike has some sense and is trying to do what he can to support Xander. I'm looking forward to seeing Xander & Spike's relationship develop and really hope the Scoobs get a clue soon.

I'm officially hooked. Poor Xander...my gut is twisting for him. But I can't believe Spike actually went and did what he did with the chip. And yay for Spike to come to Xander's rescue!

Plus, 'Sleeping Sardines'? Always been a favorite. You have my vote of approval on the poem choice and excellent story which I will now keep track of. ^_^

The Scoobies need to wake up and start dealing with what's happened instead of just trying to work around it, and around Xander. They're just adding to the hurt by trying to keep him out of danger.


And he hurts so pretty when you write him. ;)

Poor boy. This's so interesting and wellwritten. Especially how you portray this version of Xander, his hurt and still that fire to get on with his life and move past what has happened. I'm a sucker for h/c as well :) so I'm def adding this to my flist.

There will be talkage, coming up next, and perhaps a side trip, the boys haven't told me yet.

And the scoobies do need healing, this affected all of them, they just need to learn how. This isn't something that Buffy can slay or Giles can talk away or Willow can magic away. They all need to deal with it, and deal with Xander.

Spike always talks, I think so nobody will actually listen to him. Some of the shit he says…if you really listen, really hear, what he says will break your heart. Or drive you into a blind rage, and you’ll wind up kicking dust off your shoes. So it’s better to just not. I can’t count the number of times I’ve begged him to just shut up, it’s like one of those reversal of fortune kind of things.

Damn. That's exactly it. One of the best characterizations of him I've read.

This fic is brilliant. So well-written.

I love the part when Xander tells Spike to go get in the warm bed. And Spike grieves for Xander's lost smile. Nicely done.

I LOVE this. Not knowing exactly what happened to Xander, but just exposing it bit by bit is wonderful. Spike being quiet and supportive is terrific.

Why did you ever doubt that any of us would like this? I can't wait for more, especially since you left us with a big, 'ol stinky cliffhanger!

Well, I don't really have the best track record with long fics, so I was a little worried about the reception this one would get. But unlike anything I've ever written, I'm not really trying to piece the parts together. Usually I get an image or a conversation in my head, and I have to go back and fill in from the last to the next, and I'm not doing that this time, I'm writing exactly what I get in my head, from start to finish, and then moving on. I've got several pages of bits that haven't happened yet, future flashes I guess, that may or may not wind up in this!

All of that pretty much boils down to thank you so very much, both for the encouragement and the love, you've really made me smile here!
